2015 Bammy Awards Hosts

Meet Tony Sinanis and Joe Sanfelippo


Tony Tony Sinanis is currently Lead Learner at Cantiague Elementary School in Jericho, New York. Cantiague was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School and Tony received the 2014 New York State Elementary Principal of the Year Award and the national 2013 Bammy Award for Elementary School Principal of the Year. Tony studied the relationship between active participation on Twitter and the professional development of principals as part of his doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Tony is active on Twitter (@TonySinanis) and serves as the founder and co-moderator of #NYedchat. Tony has presented at both national and local conferences based on his work with social media and school branding. Finally, Tony co-hosts the BrandED radio show with Dr. Joe Sanfelippo and he has co-authored two books for Corwin Press with Joe: The Power of Branding: Telling Your School's Story and Principal Professional Development: Leading Learning in the Digital Age.

JoeJoe Sanfelippo is currently in his fourth year as the superintendent of the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, Wisconsin.  Joe holds a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from St. Norbert College, a MS in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an MS in Educational Leadership, and a PhD in Leadership, Learning, and Service from Cardinal Stritch University.  Joe was an elementary teacher, school counselor, and elementary principal before taking on the superintendent role.  He was selected as 1 of 117 Future Ready Superintendents from across the country by the US Department of Education and attended an invitation only Connected Education Summit at the White House, hosted by President Obama. He is currently an adjunct professor in the Educational Leadership Department at Viterbo University. Joe was a finalist for a 2014 Bammy Award in the categories of Superintendent of the Year and Talk Show Host of the Year with Tony Sinanis.  His research interests include: organizational and systems change in schools; personalized professional growth for staff; and advocating the use of social media in school districts.  Joe can be found online through his website at www.jsanfelippo.com and on Twitter at @joesanfelippofc.  Go Crickets!
